ADL WORKSHOP - The Experience API – What is it and what can it do for you?"

Thursday, December 8, 2016
10:00 - 11:50 AM
Room 1

As new technologies emerge, the disparate parts of your learning ecosystem can seem just like that – separate parts, each in their own walled garden. It can be a challenge to gather data from all of those sources to really capture and analyze your learners’ experiences.

The Experience API (xAPI) is an open source specification designed specifically for gathering data to fully represent all aspects of the learning experience. Whether you are designing, instructing, or managing content, the xAPI can add a valuable tool to your toolbox. Track learning experiences that occur on smartphones, tablets, virtual environments, online or offline video, eBooks, etc. More importantly, you can analyze the data that you’ve gathered and find out what’s really happening with your learning interventions and how to make them more effective.

Join us, and we will explain:

  • What xAPI is and why it matters
  • How you can we use xAPI to capture formative as well as summative learning data
  • How to use xAPI to solve technology interoperability challenges of learning systems and connected environments
  • How to design for experience-centered learning, based on the captured data of experience
  • How government agencies are already using xAPI
